SF ABOTA’s 2026 Flash Trial Brings Trial Advocacy to Life
San Francisco, CA — October 17, 2026 — The San Francisco Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (SF ABOTA) brought attorneys, judges, witnesses, jurors, and volunteers together for its 2026 Flash Trial, an engaging, hands-on program designed to sharpen trial advocacy skills, strengthen courtroom confidence, and foster professional development.
Held at the San Francisco Superior Court at 400 McAllister Street, the program gave 42 participating attorneys an opportunity to put their litigation skills into practice in a realistic courtroom setting. Through a fast-paced trial experience, participants had the opportunity to refine their advocacy techniques, think on their feet, and learn from fellow trial lawyers and members of the judiciary.
Learning by Doing
Flash Trial offers attorneys a unique opportunity to step into the courtroom and experience the demands of trial practice in a condensed, practical format. Participants put their skills to the test while navigating the essential elements of trial advocacy, including presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and responding to the challenges that arise during a trial.
The program emphasizes experiential learning in an environment where attorneys can challenge themselves, learn from one another, and strengthen the skills that are essential to effective courtroom advocacy.
Whether an attorney has years of trial experience or is looking to build greater confidence in the courtroom, Flash Trial offers a valuable opportunity to practice, grow, and gain insights that carry into future cases.
A Collaborative Effort
The success of Flash Trial depended on the collective efforts of everyone involved. Participating attorneys took on the challenge of trying their cases, while judges, witnesses, jurors, and volunteers helped bring the courtroom experience to life.
Their time, preparation, and willingness to participate made it possible to create an educational experience that was both challenging and rewarding.
Programs like Flash Trial also reinforce the importance of mentorship, collegiality, and the exchange of knowledge among members of the legal community. By creating opportunities for attorneys to learn alongside their peers and members of the judiciary, SF ABOTA continues its commitment to promoting excellence in trial advocacy.
Continuing the Experience Beyond the Courtroom
Following the program, participants gathered for a cocktail reception at the UC Law San Francisco Deb Colloquium and Skydeck. The reception provided an opportunity to celebrate the day's accomplishments, connect with fellow participants, and continue conversations about trial practice and professional development.
The combination of hands-on courtroom training and opportunities to build professional relationships made the event a valuable experience both inside and outside the courtroom.
Advancing Excellence in Trial Advocacy
SF ABOTA extends its sincere appreciation to all the attorneys, judges, witnesses, jurors, volunteers, and supporters who contributed their time and energy to making the 2026 Flash Trial possible.
Their participation reflects a shared commitment to strengthening trial advocacy, supporting professional development, and maintaining the high standards of the legal profession.
Flash Trial demonstrates that developing courtroom skills can be both educational and enjoyable.
