Jim Andersen

Jim Andersen is a Partner in the Litigation and Forensic Consulting Services Group in the San Francisco office of Hemming Morse, LLP. His career has spanned over 40 years and includes building one of the largest full service accounting firms in the North Bay. Over the last 30 years Jim's focus shifted from his extensive tax background to business valuation, financial consulting, and the forensic consulting arena. He is a nationally recognized teacher and leader in business valuation and has utilized his valuation skill sets to work with the legal community on a regular basis in areas of complex partnership, corporate, and dissenting shareholder actions as well as economic damage and other forensic accounting assignments. Jim has also worked in the family law arena, dealing specifically with high net worth cases that involve the valuation of a business as part of the community estate. He has provided testimony on a variety of forensic assignments throughout California. On the financial consulting side, Jim has performed hundreds of valuations for mergers and acquisitions, estate and gift matters, and buy/sell agreements. He has been a financial facilitator for numerous companies and assists businesses in a broad spectrum of industries and professions in business succession planning and exit strategies. Jim's professional experience has also included being an active board member for a significant Bay Area company as well as acting as a provisional director for multiple companies during a shareholder dispute action.
Jim currently serves on the Forensic Services Section Steering Committee of the California Society of CPAs, is a past chairman for the business valuation section of the forensic services section of the California Society of CPAs, and has chaired numerous conferences for both the American Institute of CPAs as well as the California Society of CPAs. He is a senior member of the American Society of Appraisers, is accredited in business valuation by the American Institute of CPAs, and holds its Certified in Financial Forensics credential. Jim graduated with a degree in accounting from California State University in Chico and has a Masters Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

Claudia SternClaudia J. Stern is a Principal in the Forensic and Financial Consulting Services Group in the San Francisco office of Hemming Morse, LLP. As a Certified Public Accountant, she has worked on numerous business valuations, forensic accounting engagements, and economic damages involving a wide range of industries. Ms. Stern's valuation experience has included dissenting shareholder actions, mergers and acquisitions, family law, and estate and gift matters. Her forensic accounting engagements have included breach of fiduciary duty claims, alter ego, fraud, and malpractice actions. She is Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She received her B.A. in Physics from Whitman College and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard University.

Greg ReganGreg Regan is a Partner in the Litigation and Forensic Consulting Services Group in the San Francisco office of Hemming Morse, LLP. He serves on the American Institute of CPA’s (“AICPA”) Forensic and Litigation Services (“FLS”) Committee. This 12-member committee provides professional guidance to CPA practitioners who perform forensic accounting investigations and perform economic damage analyses. Greg has worked on more than 100 such matters, and has testified in federal and state court as well as in arbitrations. Greg is the current Chair of the AICPA’s Damages Task Force. Greg is also an Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University, where he teaches forensic accounting to graduate students. Greg is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Financial Forensic (CFF), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), and a graduate of the CalCPA’s Leadership Institute. Greg received his B.S. degree in Accounting from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and his Masters in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Finance from the University of San Francisco. When he’s not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.
